Master or slave to your emotions

Our thoughts drive our emotions which drive our mood. Emotions and moods have compounding effect on how one view’s the world and oneself. Most of us find it difficult to not get emotionally defensive in a tense situation. Our emotions control our choices and actions – positive or negative. We need to control our emotions and not become a slave to them. Mastering one’s emotions is not a walk in the park and especially not for the faint-heart. It takes a lot of courage, will-power, discipline and letting go of one’s ego. As an empathetic person who feels things deeply, I have learned this lesson the hard way.  Emotional Slave : A person who is a slave to their emotions, usually have a negative and destructive tendency and vibes. They are usually very insulting, angry, and full of aggression especially if they think an argument is going against them. Their biggest fear of losing control or not have others seeing from their point of view. These negative people are usually not in...

Smile and the world will smile with you

Looking back at my last post, it has been almost 3.5 years – can’t believe so much time has passed. Just like majority of the world population, I had disappeared in the robotic routine of this world that I forget why I started writing in the first place. This blog was my way of sharing my life’s journey with you – my fellow earthlings. Thinking maybe someone out there somewhere would find all my blabbering informative and life changing. I would still have been stuck in my routine and blog would have had real spider webs on it, had it not been for a special friend (let’s give her a cool nickname, White Dragon Lady). She, in your own way, pestered me about why I stopped writing, and it got me thinking, why indeed. We all strive for a better life… more money, more fame, more materialistic things that we lose sight of one of the more precious things in this world… being a good human being. “ Be a good human being, a warm hearted, affectionate person. That is my fundamental belie...

Grass is the same colour on the other side

It has been almost a year since I last shared my thoughts. A lot has happened in this year, and I would not change anything! I had reached my lowest point in the latter half of last year and I was second guessing my decision of coming to a new world, but as luck had it and like Les Brown said, I fell on my back and could only see the way up. That is when I decided to devote my time to constructive things like blogging, reading about the latest technology news by following Mashable , TechCrunch , CNET and local newspapers here. That is where I got my different ideas for my blogs (I know they are not that good but I'm not a professional writer). "When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up." - Les Brown When I did not have luck landing a proper career job i.e. Business Analyst job, many people told me to do a master's degree to utilize my time in the best way and that it wou...

Falling down.. Get back up and never give up

Most of the people in this world go through a rough patch in their life once (or some like me more than once). It is these times that make or break one's character. I have had my fair share of these rough patches (one can say I am still going through one at this very moment). There will be many times where you just want to give up and go live in a hole till the storm passes but speaking from experience, it is best to face everything face-to-face. There will only be one outcome, i.e. either you will be stronger or know what not to do. "When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up." - Les Brown [I don't own this image] When disappointment or rejection knocks you down, get up and go again, because out of our greatest rejection comes our greatest direction. If you read the life story of Oprah Winfrey or Steve Jobs , you will find out that neither of them had an easy-going...

Building your own spider-web

I know it has been a while since I last shared my thoughts. I have been busy (couldn't think of what to write and share). It is really difficult to think of things when there are so many new games being released (like Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raiders' new instalments). I choose to write about the importance of 'networking'. To me networking is like a spider making it is web, every line is interconnected, its strong/steady and long-lasting. What does it really mean and what is my take on this. In a literal meaning 'Networking is about developing long-term relationships for mutual gain and creating a lasting impression with people so that they think of you positively when an opportunity arises'.   [I don't own this image] Why Network? In my opinion, one of the most beneficial aspects of networking is creating awareness . If your goal is to get a new job, expand your business and/or gain market share, awareness is an absolute necessity. ...

Making a difference... Now

I often think what makes someone a 'better person', still haven't gotten a concrete answer for this question. Different people have different opinion but there is something common in them all... 'Help make a difference' . This could be anything from improving your lifestyle, standards, helping out others and even sending out positive vibes. [ I copied this image from Sevenly.org, I don't ow n it ] No matter what your opinion, try to make a difference in this life which could make life better for the future generation (this way you will be remembered as well). Start a charity or volunteer for a charity, help out others especially children with anything from schoolwork to playing with them, spend time with the elderly and the artistic/handicapped people - they are the ones that need the most attention and care. A good deed never goes unrewarded I always try to be a reason for someone's smile. There is always room for improving oneself and ...

Top 5 Transferable Skills

Every day I try to learn something new, be it related to my career (Business Analysis), games or research about different things. There are hundreds of informative sites and articles (sadly I don't have time to read them all). This week it was all about learning new things related to business analysis and the best place for that (in my opinion) is the IIBA website . There I read an article titled " The Business of Business Analysis " by Maureen McVey. In this article she has referred to another articled published in 'The Houston Chronicle' ( link to the article ). This article discusses the top 5 transferable skills, which are: Communications Skills Interpersonal Skills Technical Skills Research and Analytical Skills Organizational Skills [ I don't own this image] Communication Skills Oral communication skills are used to verbally express ideas, information, or other matters. Written communication skills are necessary for business analysts ...
