I know it has been a while since I last shared my thoughts. I have been busy (couldn't think of what to write and share). It is really difficult to think of things when there are so many new games being released (like Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raiders' new instalments).
I choose to write about the importance of 'networking'. To me networking is like a spider making it is web, every line is interconnected, its strong/steady and long-lasting. What does it really mean and what is my take on this. In a literal meaning
'Networking is about developing long-term relationships for mutual gain and creating a lasting impression with people so that they think of you positively when an opportunity arises'.

Why Network?
In my opinion, one of the most beneficial aspects of networking is creating awareness. If your goal is to get a new job, expand your business and/or gain market share, awareness is an absolute necessity. You must be top of mind to be in the discussion process. If you are not in the equation, you cannot be selected. Awareness also serves as a benefit when you are needing help with a project, or simply desire to expand your circle of influence.
Once you have created enough awareness, it leads to new opportunities opening for you. When you take the step of advancing your current circle of influence, you vastly increase your chances of having new opportunities offered to you. Opportunities can be for business, pleasure, personal growth, career advancement, or simply just knowledge. One of the world's greatest business minds, Dale Carnegie, once said:
Smart business people understand the value of networking. Put simply, expanding your contacts improves your chances to build good relationships, discover leads and generate increased sales.
My take on Network
Networking is something that really has unlimited advantages. Once learned, networking is a life skill which has many applications. Most commonly, people use networking to develop new business or find a new job. The expansion of your relationship base can only serve to help you in the long run. Whether the goal is personal improvement or business expansion, continual and consistent networking will benefit you. Top business leaders know the advantages of networking surpass every other tool at their disposal. There's no equal to picking up the phone and calling a contact. After all, the power of networking has put Presidents in office, raised billions to start new companies and has even been used to find organ donors for someone in dire need. As you access your network, the first person you call may not have the answers, but just taking the action is a step on a journey to achieving your goals. (this paragraph was written whilst sipping my mint green tea - my mind was working on hyper-speed 😄 )
I'll leave you with some tips and ideas that I personally learned and practice. There is no shortage of networking opportunities to take advantage of, especially with the constant expansion of the Internet. Try some of these:
Become a member of a society of your industry
Good luck and have fun networking!
